3 VT Fishing Guide Tips For Landing Largemouth Bass

When it comes to largemouth bass it is one of the most sought after fish out there! Catching small largemouth bass are fun as a VT Fishing Guide, but at more than 10 lbs, the game changes. Depending on where you fish, how far you are willing to travel and many other factors, catching a monster largemouth bass may not be an option. Everyone can dream though for the catch of a lifetime. Here are 10 tips to help you catch your dream largemouth bass.

VT Fishing Guide

Tactic #1 – Fish The Right Depth

Smaller make largemouth bass are shallow cruisers around 3 – 6 feet of water. At 8-12 feet of water, these bass are perfect targets! The smaller males head up to the surface in pre-spawn season, but the big females hold back from the shallows and they are perfect for a Carolina rig. One of the key points to remember is fishing at the right depth. Big female largemouth bass

One of the key points to remember is fishing at the right depth. Big female largemouth bass tend to stick to the deep waters and slow moving. The key here is to reel in slowly and wait for them to get interested in your bait.

Tactic #2 – Expand Your Strike Zone

Have you ever used Bucca Bull Shad Slow Sinking Swimbait? These bad boys are designed to accurately mimic the many varieties of shad and baitfish that bass fish love. A great time of day to go fishing in around 50 degrees in the spring and later in the day in the fall. When the bugs come out and the waters are calm, you can see them come up for a bite as the sun sets. The bigger fish in the spring tend to spawn first and move up early into the shallows. The biggest benefit of using swimbait is that they expand your strike zone!

Tactic #3 – Change Up Your Bait

Crank bait that can reach 20 feet down have flooded the market today and for good reason. Strike King’s 10xd is one type of crankbait that works great for hunting large fish. When you are using different sizes of crankbait, make sure you have the appropriate pole to handle it with large fish. To find the large fish, head over to long points or bars near the main part of your lake. Largemouth Bass love to hide in the weeds, under boat docks and in waters 8-12 feet. Remember, it is fun catching a monster fish at 20 feet or more, but you never know what monster is lurking for your bait at 10 feet. Sometimes those spots work out better!

Keith really runs a terrific private ice fishing excursion!! From the start, Keith was extremely responsive, organized and full of knowledge and excitement over our family’s desire to try ice fishing for the first time. Keith was thorough in his planning with us so that we were prepared and comfortable with our plans. The day was amazing—-Keith is an expert fisherman, and he so was patient with all of us non fishermen/women. We learned so much and really had the time of our lives with Keith! We will definitely do another excursion with Keith soon, and highly recommend him!

We had a blast fishing with Keith last week. He put us on nonstop action on a hot day, which is not easy. The lake was beautiful and fun to jump in as well. My nine-year-old daughter does not have a ton of fishing experience, but he was able to get her working the retrieves perfectly, and she ended up out fishing me by a long shot! We got largemouth, smallmouth, rock bass, Pickerel, Perch, and sunfish. Keith is great with kids, and a lot of fun to hang out with for grown-ups. His boat and equipment are top notch as well. I would recommend this guy to anyone, And we are looking forward to our next trip which might be some ice fishing.
