It has been a crazy busy season this year as a Vermont Fishing Tour Guide, but we did manage to get out to Lake Rescue in Plymouth, Vermont on April 22, 2016. We were looking to do a little pre-spawn fishing for small and large mouth bass. The first tree we came to we saw a very nice bass. As I got the boat closer to the tree, I realized that it was full of crappie fish. If you are not familiar with these fish, here is a picture. They are considered one of the best tasting freshwater fish out there. My customer Justin Kennedy had never caught them before and was pretty excited to see so many in one place. The tree was loaded with them.
I decided to switch out our poles to a lighter line with smaller jigs. Eureka, we had success and caught our limit for the day of crappie. In this case, because we were in shallow waters and near the shore, we ended up using our small aluminum drift boat. This type of boat is primarily used for shallow water fishing. I don’t have to worry about branches, rocks or other obstacles on the bottom and still have a great time fishing. Thank Jason for fishing with us!
Remember If you don’t catch fish, we don’t get paid!
