Well, the stay bent fishing crew had another successful Ohio muzzleloader season. We started this trip with a bunch of laughs on the truck ride down. And as we got closer we all began to get very excited because of the snow on the ground as we approached Ohio.
As any hunter knows, we all woke up an hour before the alarms went off out of pure excitement. During breakfast, we made a game plan for the four of us. It was about 5 degrees that morning so we figured we would all find sunny spots to sit and hunker down as long as we could. As first light had come up, we all heard lots and lots of gunshots, but none were from our group. After a few hours of nothing but hunters, we went to some other woods. After not a lot of action, we made a game plan for the afternoon sit.
And before most of us had even got to our spots we heard a “Bang.” Ben got on the radio and said: “I just shot the biggest buck of my life.” As he went over where the buck disappeared it was standing there all hunched up from the first shot so he shot it again hitting it a second time and the deer started to head towards private property but then bedded in front of Rachel. Rachel noticed its head was still moving so she shot it hoping it wouldn’t make it onto private property. It got up, ran two feet and dropped. Ben was excited as he could be to have the biggest buck of his life. As they were celebrating, “Bang,” they heard another gunshot. It was Keith; he shot a doe. The next day, Ryan and Rachel shot a doe on the same hunt within 1 minute of each other.
And the last day, Ben was the first one to tag out, shooting his second deer a doe. And Keith also was able to tag out the last day shooting his second doe. 4 hunters four days six deer. No guides do it yourself hunt!!!
